Device Testing for Hospitals and Clinics
Comprehensive STK, DGUV V3 and DIN EN 62353 testing for all medical technology in your hospital
The Most Extensive Testing Requirements
Hospitals and clinics are subject to the most extensive testing requirements of all medical facilities. The combination of MPBetreibV, DGUV Vorschrift 3 and the requirements of the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) demands systematic device management with regular testing cycles.
As a TÜV Süd certified inspector per DIN EN 62353, I support your medical technology department with electrical safety testing - as an external service provider or to expand capacity during testing peaks.
Typical Devices in Hospitals
- OR equipment (OR tables, OR lights, electrosurgery)
- Patient monitoring (ECG, SpO2, blood pressure, temperature)
- Ventilators and respirators
- Infusion technology (infusion pumps, syringe pumps, perfusors)
- Defibrillators (AED, manual, implantable interrogation devices)
- Laboratory devices (analyzers, centrifuges, incubators)
- Ultrasound devices (diagnostic and therapeutic)
- Endoscopy equipment
- Electric care beds and patient lifters
- Warming devices (radiant warmers, warming mats, blood/infusion warmers)
- Suction devices
- Physiotherapy equipment
Testing Requirements Overview
| Test | Legal Basis | Devices | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| STK | §12 MPBetreibV | Annex 1 devices | Performed by us |
| MTK | §15 MPBetreibV | Annex 2 devices | Not by us - only by officially designated bodies |
| DIN EN 62353 | DGUV V3 / MPBetreibV | All ME devices | Performed by us |
| DIN VDE 0701-0702 | DGUV V3 | Non-medical devices | Performed by us |
Note on MTK (Metrological Control)
The metrological control (MTK) per §15 MPBetreibV for Annex 2 devices (e.g., blood pressure monitors, thermometers, infusion pumps with dosing accuracy) may only be performed by officially designated bodies. We do not offer MTK. However, we naturally perform the electrical safety test (STK/DIN EN 62353) of these devices.
Device Management and Maintenance Contracts
For hospitals, structured device management is particularly relevant. I offer:
- ✓ Maintenance contract - Fixed testing cycles with guaranteed dates
- ✓ Device registration - Complete inventory with testing history
- ✓ Deadline monitoring - Proactive reminders for upcoming tests
- ✓ Ward-by-ward testing - Coordinated with your hospital operations
- ✓ Post-repair testing - Available at short notice for recommissioning
- ✓ Capacity expansion - Supporting your medical technology team during testing peaks
Typical Testing Intervals in Hospitals
Manufacturer specifications always take precedence. Typical intervals: STK for Annex 1 devices every 1-2 years, DIN EN 62353 periodic test every 12-24 months, DGUV V3 for non-medical devices per risk assessment. After every repair or maintenance, retesting before recommissioning is mandatory.
